Incorporating components of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Trauma-Responsiveness (EDIT-R) has become a staple in popular discourse, spanning from Hollywood to Tech, with especially consequential impact on health and human service organizations. While these terms have been canonized in our current Zeitgeist, they are often relegated to theory due to insufficient skill in moving beyond intellectual understanding into practical, productive execution. The Wake aims to create convergence among the concepts related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Trauma-Responsive (EDIT-R) discourses through systemic implementation, especially in service of the mental health field.
The Wake envisions a reorganization of our stratified sociopolitical systems through education and action planning in service to the most marginalized and traumatized communities in society. Our contribution to this reconstruction will come in the form of consultation, training, and workshops, especially for individuals and organizations providing mental health services.
"If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters." –Frederick Douglass
